Disaster Relief
Haven Community and Disaster relief program was initially launched as part of the mobile medical clinics but came into its own during the 2004 Asian Tsunami. It provides basic care and essential items to people who are in situations where they are unable to provide adequately for them themselves.
Currently the program is divided into three parts:
-
Responding to disasters in the South East Asia region
-
Training - which is essentially teaching and preparing staff and other leaders how to respond in the event of a disaster. These people form the Disaster Assistance and Relief Team (D.A.R.T.)
-
Community outreaches to people identified as in need of assistance.
